At Go-Ape he allegedly said 'come on you lot should be good at this'

He was a brilliant player obviously no Einstein. I am sure a day will come soon when people can make stupid idiotic jokes and get a reply they deserve.
If Beardsley was doing this constantly I would be shocked and think him an absolute fucking idiot but if he has done it a few times as banter then I personally think the players should simply tell him to stop being racist, or shut the fuck up you fucking short ugly etc etc etc. that is all that is needed, not everything that is said should go to tribunal.
Maybe I am wrong, I actually think that not saying things like what Peter allegedly said is the way we must all go but we must also accept that some toss pots will make unacceptable comments and can be dealt with there and then with some confidence from the player themselves.

I remember the days when my Welsh mate got abuse from us for sheep shagging even though the nearest he'd been to a sheep was Sunday lunch.
A Jewish mate got mean & circumcised Jews jokes. A Scot, sweaty sock jokes. An Irish lad thick jokes. I guess we were all a bit racist but it never seemed to matter back then as we all gave it and got it back. We never saw black or brown faces in those days so it was just occasional pecking order stuff.
Nowadays we all have to be so careful what we say so that we don't cause offence and I'm sure Peter Beardsley was saying things like that for a joke. It doesn't make it right but no-one can tell me that black people don't say the same kind of racist things to white people. Trevor Sinclair being a classic example....

I believe that, in order that ordinary folks can blow a bit hard and let off some steam, the UN has agreed that every nation has a bunch of people they ARE allowed to be racist about - in the case of the English, it's the Welsh. In the case of everyone else in the world it's white, heterosexual, able-bodied Englishmen and their American counterparts.
